Real Wedding: Rachel & John
A gorgeous winter day in Newport, a beautiful bride and her handsome groom, an indoor botanical garden bursting with color and the talented photographer, Matt from blueflash photography, eager to capture every precious moment. Rachel and John chose the chilly month of January to say “I do,” but that didn’t stop them from finding lush flora and fauna as a romantic backdrop to their wedding photos. Matt was impressed with the bride and groom’s creativity in choosing one of the sites for their photo shoot:
“Something Rachel did (that I would recommend to every bride) is to ask for what you want!” Said Matt. “It sounds simple and basic, but it can’t be overstated. There are opportunities and favors you can take advantage of on that one day you’re wearing a white dress that are very different from any other day of your life. Roger Williams Park is the home of the Botanical Gardens, a building full of plants and flowers unlike anything you’ve ever seen unless you’ve been to a jungle on another continent. That was easy. Normally it’s a paid admission exhibit with specific hours, but a simple request from Rachel to let us in was all it took for the coordinator to grant access. One of my favorite shots of the day was inside the gardens. It would have never happened if Rachel didn’t ask for what she wanted.
“Try. It doesn’t hurt,” Matt continued. “The worst that can happen is someone will say no. I’ve got a hunch they won’t, though.”
