Things We Love…Balloons!

In Pixar’s film “UP,” which I recently watched, balloons were an old man’s means to explore the world and fulfill his late wife’s dream. They quite literally lifted him up out of his troubles and into adventure.  At first thought, balloons seem childish and simple, but as I observed from this movie, something about them is also aesthetically pleasing. Their colors feel good, and their movement and shine plays well with lighting. So maybe you don’t want to decorate your wedding day in balloons, but consider using them for a few pictures. A look back one day just might lift your spirits.                                                                           ♥Emily

Inspired by…Circle Ceremonies!

Finding a good seat at a wedding is usually pretty tough. Either you can’t see the bride, you can’t see the groom, or you can’t see anything at all except for that guy’s head in front of you. However, there is an alternative to every tradition- in this case, the circle ceremony. Instead of chairs being set up in the two typical sections with the gloried aisle down the center, the circle ceremony sets chairs in a complete circle formation. The bride still enters down an aisle, which is cut into the circle. She meets her groom at the center where they exchange vows, surrounded in entirety by the warmth of those they love most in the world. The best part? No one in the audience will miss a thing.

The Look…Braids!

A few weeks ago, Cinderella inspired us with her pretty top bun. Today, lets take a look at the whimsical hair stylings of my friend Rapunzel. She turned a braid into something of fairytale quality, which is exactly what you could do for your wedding day. The braid is simple, just like the top bun, but there are so many ways to pretty it up. Maybe after today’s pictures, your wedding hair will be as magical as hers.                                                                        ♥Emily

Things We Love…Heel Protectors!

A very practical post today. Heel protectors are a necessary accessory for all weddings. Whether you have an outdoor wedding or you are only outdoors for pictures, they will come in handy for sure. Heel protectors are just small pieces of plastic that slip on the bottom of your heel and serve two purposes. They protect your shoes, as well as keep your heel from slipping into the soft ground. They’ll prove to be a good investment when you’re invited to four more weddings this summer too.                                                                                             ♥Emily

Real Weddings… Joel and Helen at Bristol Yacht Club

Life has a way of taking us to unexpected places. For Helen, that place was across the country in San Diego where she met Joel. There, they fell in love. Still, you can never really forget home, nor the charm of New England. Helen grew up here, and for the beautiful sake of family, Joel and Helen had their wedding in Bristol, Rhode Island. This couple loves to sail, and so transpired a nautical celebration at the Bristol Yacht Club. The Calerpittars filled the day with music while B&M Clambakes filled up the guests with a classic lobster boil. So fun! All the happenings of this happy day were tied together by Allison Liset of Elegant Engagements and captured by Erin McGinn Photography. Happiness is what I see. The day, the guests, the lovebirds-all emit happiness, exactly what weddings should do beyond all else. A blue day under a white

Things We Love… The Wedding Invitation

The wedding invitation can say a lot about a couple. From the color scheme, the fonts used to relay the message, a pattern or design that’s stamped on, even the shape and corner style of the card itself. Invitations can be printed, hand-written (for the enthusiastic DIY-er!), or letter-pressed for that luxe feel. It can really set the tone for a wedding. Is it fun? Romantic? Elegant? Rustic? Chic? Your invitation should reflect the feel of your wedding. One overlooked use of a wedding invitation is to have it with you on the day of. Give it to your photographer and let them work some magic. A good photographer can integrate it tastefully into photos. Sometimes a focus shot on the invitation itself serves to preserve it forever, or maybe it works best as part of a details scene with some other important items from your wedding. Either way, providing

Inspired by…Love Letters!

Remember to write a note to your sweetheart for the morning of your wedding. Yes I know you will be busy, but what you have to say to them, especially at this time, is more important than whatever is keeping you busy. Your relationship is poised between dating and marriage- somewhere it will only be for this moment in time. And although your feelings for the other are always present, in this moment, they are presiding on the surface in crystal clear form, ready to be written down. It would be a shame for such fierce love to never reach your other. On that morning, amidst a whirlwind of emotions and dizzying anxiety, I would bet there is only one person who could calm it all down for you. Sweet words from each other might just bring everything else to a stop. Do yourself and your love a favor. Write

Inspired by…Watercolors!

Hello my fellow lovers of love. I am delightfully enchanted by the watercolor theme, and these pictures might charm you as well. The theme sends soft colors drifting through a wedding scene, like a colorful mist rolling through. I can just imagine the lucid colors moving with musical direction, running over the walls and onto your table cloths and napkins, painting a whitewashed cake and every last letter in the room. The theme is clean, free. This is your one day to recreate the world any way you want to imagine it. You are limited only by what you are able to dream up. No, the world is not naturally made up of watercolors, but today it can be. So may your guests walk into something beyond this world when they walk into your wedding and be inspired to build something unimaginable in their lives. ♥Emily

Things We Love…Bicycles!

Lately, I have come across many engagement and wedding shoots using bicycles as props. A man and his lady riding bikes together characterize love’s lighter spirit, but what I love most about this is the feeling of adventure. Whether riding off to picnic with your sweetheart or promising your whole life to them, loving someone is always full of adventure. The bikes seem to possess a little of this feeling along with their sweet pastels and great vintage appeal, so one or two in your shoot might make perfect sense. ♥Emily

Inspired by…The Ocean!

I am missing the ocean. One touch from the resilient shore is like a dear old friend welcoming you back to an adventurous life.  Mundane routines don’t exist there; only the most precious things hold weight by the water. Thoughts run wild with the salty wind, love feels as warm as the sun, and life seems as endless as the sea. Yes, I am missing the ocean. Because of this, I thought I would share some pictures that will whisk you away to places where only sweet love matters. And what place is more perfect for beach weddings than Newport? Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air. -Ralph Waldo Emerson ♥Emily &nbsp
