Inspired By…DIY Centerpieces

My sister is getting married this August and let’s just say I have been on the hunt for some DIY ideas. What have I mainly been searching for you ask? Centerpieces. I think centerpieces allow you to really bring your theme or vision of your wedding day all together. Each table can be a little different yet still show off your colors, floral arrangements and even the bride and grooms personal style. Are they travelers? Are they readers? Wine Lovers?  Making your own centerpieces allows you to show off those special things you share together. There are some excellent ideas out there and now, I cannot wait to make my sisters for her wedding day!  Did you create your own centerpieces? Please share your ideas with us! XOXO-Samantha

The Look…TuTu’s!

Instead of dressing up your flower girl to be a small version of you in what looks like a miniature wedding gown, why don’t you let her have some fun? Dress her in layered ballet tutu’s that match your bridesmaids perhaps, or let her have a color all her own. That special little one can be the fairy princess that sprinkles your aisle with petals and magical dust. How fun for her and for you?  ♥Emily

Important Things… The Boston Marathon Tragedy

It only feels right to take a break from the regular stream of wedding inspiration today to slow down and think about the people involved in the Boston incident. Every day we post about weddings, dresses, flowers, ceremonies, photos, and all of those things. What is it really all about? Committing to the person you love for the rest of your life, in front of and with friends and family in a day of celebration. With that said, our hearts go out to those that lost their loved ones yesterday in the tragic and senseless violence, and to those that were seriously injured and forever have their lives altered. A huge wave of gratitude to the first responders and the bystanders who did their best to help those around them who needed it. -Matt

The Look….Not Your Average Wedding Gown

Wedding gowns tend to start looking the same after you have tried one after the other. Strapless after structured, lace before a-line you forget which dress was which. Factor in the opinion of your family members and closest friends, and a girl can lose her mind searching for the perfect wedding dress! Why not forget the traditional and pick a dress that no one expects. One that speaks to your personal style and flatters your figure. Before you consider that ball gown style, consider the not so obvious option. The option you might not normally give a second glance to. &nbsp

Real Wedding…Joey and Andrea at Hotel Viking

For Joey and Andrea, their wedding was not about the actual day, although it was beautiful. Instead, their excitement was for the life and love they were being promised. In a culture where the wedding is often more glorified than the marriage, that is a beautiful thing to hear. Their reception was held at The Hotel Viking in Newport, which proved to be the perfect venue for such a gorgeous affair and such stunning people. The wedding party sparkled with a little help from Special Event Beauty and the bridesmaid dresses of Alfred Angelo. DJ Raffi brought the music and Florals by Alisa colored the room. The literal icing of the event, the cake, came from Konditor Meister. Much thanks to Gracie Lou Events for tying together every last lovely detail and to Binita Patel Photography for the story of pictures below. To Joey and Andrea, your day was beautiful

Things We Love….Groom’s Cakes

I guess I am focusing on the guys this week! Why not, right? Weddings are usually a women dominated to-do, so why not let the guys have their moment, too? Wedding cakes are usually covered in cascading flowers or layers upon layers of elaborate designs. They typically go along with the theme and color scheme of your wedding day and are rarely “gentlemen friendly.” Brides have started giving their soon-to-be hubby’s their “fifteen minutes of fame” and having a separate cake dedicated just to them. This is generally presented at the rehearsal dinner and the perfect way to honor your man! Many cakes designated for the groom are designed after one of their interests, their alma mater, or favorite sports team. So, before the day becomes all about you, give your fiance his time to shine!  XOXO-Samantha &nbsp

Inspired By….Bow Ties

It is no secret that bow’s aren’t just for girls! Bow ties have been making an appearance in the wedding scene lately. They bring a bit of a different look to the typical straight tie seen on most wedding days, a look that I happen to love. Bow ties offer a little fun and uniqueness and really bring out your husband to-be’s personal style. If you’d rather your husband in the classic tie look, what about your ring bearer, or your groomsmen? You’re finishing up your wedding plans, crossing your T’s, dotting your I’s….why not tie it all together with one of these? XOXO-Samantha &nbsp

Things We Love…Glass Bottles!

Decorating for a wedding does not have to cost a fortune. In my opinion, the most memorable wedding is the one that takes what is common and transforms it to what is extraordinary. For example, recycled glass bottles can become a nice center piece or accent, however only if you are willing to think that way. Even the most uncreative person can accomplish this one. Drip your color of choice into a bottle, shake it up, then let it set. The result is opaque bottles to match your colors and a vas for your flowers. Perhaps try painting the outside of wine bottles with black chalk paint and write table numbers or quotes on them. Don’t let the professionals have all the fun planning your look- join in and make something beautiful. ♥Emily

Just Because…

Today’s “Just Because” is not a photo, but rather a painting we came across. We were so inspired with this piece of art that we had to share it. The warm and cool color contrasts paired with the reflections of light on the ground really convey the feeling of love on a New England autumn night. As you prepare to get married, make sure you still take the time to savor moments like this

Inspired by…Activities!

When I was younger, I thought the act of dancing was what actually married two people. Silly, but dancing does typically embody the celebration. As fun as it can be, not everyone expresses themselves that way. Happiness has many outlets. Brainstorm with your fiancé, party, or planner. Come up with something you enjoy and turn it into a reception event. Here is your chance to play croquet in high heels or have team scrabble matches. Celebrate in your way. Also, life offers very few venues where every person you love is present, so create opportunities to interact in memorable ways. There is nothing in the rules that says you have to follow them. Reflect who you are, and do what you love. Everyone invited will follow suit.
