Today’s post hits close to home. My older sister is getting married this coming August and she had made a big decision regarding her bridesmaid dresses. With the help of a fabric swatch, she has allowed us to pick our own dress in the respective color she chose. I personally think this is a fantastic idea. With eight bridesmaids, the opinions, styles and body types definitely vary. Although the ultimate decision is still up to my big sis, picking our own style dress makes life a lot easier. Not only are there eight girls, we are all over the country from here in Rhode Island to California and everywhere in between. My advice to you, take some notes from my sister and allow your girls to pick out their own dress. If you are worried about what they will pick out, make a point to have them send you a

I know it is a day late, but I have to say Happy Mothers Day to all of the mothers out there. Although mothers don’t play a very visible role on our wedding days (like walking us down the aisle), they are right by our side through it all. Those late nights consisting of addressing and stamping invitations, sorting out those seating charts, and countless appointments from your bridal gown to your cake tastings. I am sure you all did yesterday, but make sure to give your mom an extra thank you for everything she does not only for the normal day to day things but especially while planning a wedding! XOXO-Samantha

Imagine with the touch of your finger you could turn a flower into an enchantingly large size. Imagine with the wave of your hands you could bring every delicate detail into clear view, to eye level in fact. Well, with a little work from you and your bridesmaids, this is all quite possible. Your wedding could be a walk through a forest of poppies and roses and tulips, oh my. Or, if that all seems too much, perhaps make just a few for a photo booth background. Not magic, just a little Do It Yourself. ♥Emily

Mint green, lavender or lilac, pale yellow or robin’s egg blue, pastels have been underrated for a long time! Although, they are slowly starting to climb up the popular color ladder in the fashion world. Trends for Spring include delicate colored silk blouses, soft nail colors and pale pink lips, but what about in wedding trends? Pastel colors happen to be one of my favorite color palettes as of late! While everyone is jumping at the thought of a bold blue to-do, or a bright coral soiree, I have had my eye on these lighter colors for months! Whether it is your bridesmaid dresses or decor, I personally don’t think you can go wrong with some softer shades! Did you do stick to the softer side of things on your wedding day? Leave me a comment and share a picture! XOXO-Samantha

Who doesn’t love pictures? I’ll even go one step further, who doesn’t love Polaroid pictures? I have a “thing” for them. I am not sure what it is about them that I love so much. Maybe it is waiting for the picture to appear before your eyes, or that you don’t get to delete it and retake it, I just love them. I saw this idea for the first time at a wedding last summer and fell in love. Instead of the traditional guestbook, why not replace it with a Polariod guest book? What is this guestbook replacement you ask? This guestbook still allows your guests to sign their names and write you and your newlywed a congratulatory sentence or two, but now they can add a fun picture as well. It is just as simple and double the amount of fun. Your guests will enjoy taking fun, candid pictures

The wedding of Mike and Kristen was a day of pure elegance. The April affair flawlessly seamed together two different cultures, tying two lives together into one love. They chose to celebrate at Newport’s Hotel Viking, and embellished the already regal venue with a variety of beautiful flower arrangements by Flou(-e)r. Kristen graced her guests and new husband wearing a dress from Alexandra’s Bridal Boutique. Surely Mike fell all over again at the sight of her. Together they had some fun cutting the cake by Konditor Meister, celebrating their new marriage with sweet happiness. Many thanks to Brett Alison Photography for capturing such a special day in such lovely ways. Congratulations Mike and Kristen! ♥Emily

Who says you have to wear white? Who says your new husband has to climb up your dress to take a piece of lace off of your leg in front of your friends and family? Who says you have to throw your bouquet in hopes a lucky single lady catches it? And, who says you have to have cake smashed in your perfectly made up face? These are just a few traditions that have started over the years of couples tying the knot. Where did these traditions come from anyway? I know for a fact that I would be beyond embarrassed if a garter was taken off my leg, upset if my beautiful bouquet was ruined and pretty annoyed if I had cake anywhere other than in my mouth. So before you give in to these older traditions, go with something new and start a tradition of your own.

I am sorry friends. Today I do not have any ideas or to-do’s for you. I hope you don’t mind, but instead I would like to offer up an inspiration. Society says that your wedding day will be one of the best days of your life, and in fact, yes, they are right. However, I think this only intensifies the pressure. Because you have grown up with the best day statement in the back of your mind, you work like crazy to make sure of it. The truth is, if you allow it, your wedding day will be the best day…regardless. Imagine for a moment you did not do a thing. Imagine from the moment you were engaged you did not make one call, choose one color, or listen to a single song. Let’s pretend you forgot all about it. On the morning of your wedding, you throw on your
