Ok, this is a serious pet peeve of a lot of brides and we don’t blame them. Here’s what needs to happen upon receiving an invitation to any event that calls for an RSVP, especially a wedding: 1. RSVP. Immediately. RSVP is French for “please respond” (respondez s’il vous plait). Your most important obligation as a guest is to respond to the invitation immediately, especially if you are unable to attend. At the very least, it allows your host and hostess enough time to give the caterer an accurate count. Each caterer expects a certain amount of lead time and if you don’t RSVP or if you cancel last minute the couple will likely have to pay for you even if you don’t come to the wedding. To make it more convenient to RSVP, most couples include a reply card with pre-paid postage for you to return to them. If not,

Hello pretties! Do we have a special treat for YOU on this Monday after Thanksgiving. Lindsay and Andrew were married on a lovely summer evening overlooking the breathtaking Narragansett Bay on the pristine grounds of the OceanCliff Hotel in Newport, RI. For all you history buffs out there, OceanCliff Resort, according to their Website, was designed and built in 1864 and was used by a wealthy industrialist and member of Mrs. Astor’s 400 Club as a private summer residence during the Gilded Age. The estate remained a private summer home until 1954, when it was sold and later converted into an oceanfront retreat to host lavish parties and society affairs. It sits on 10-acres of rolling hills and boasts spectacular ocean views. We were simply smitten with the unique choice of sea foam green for the bridesmaid’s dresses and thought that the pinks, whites and greens sprinkled throughout the ceremony and

Hello pretties! Speaking of pretty – today’s topic relates to one of our FAV aesthetic treats: wedding monograms. Traditional yet trendy, wedding monograms are a sweet way of visually exclaiming: “Back off, ladies. He’s mine!” Just kidding…kind of. To be clear, there is an etiquette, or more like a rule of thumb, when it comes to incorporating your married monogram into your wedding. According to Brides.com: “The only ‘rule’ is that the couple cannot appear in a married monogram until actually married. Thus, if you make a monogram with the man’s last initial, you can’t put the women’s first initial with it until the ceremony is complete. Not even if the couple coincidentally start out with the same last name initial.” So, for example, it’s really not “correct” to put your married monogram or crest on your wedding invitations because technically you’re not married yet. The same goes for any decorative

We can’t bear the thought of a gorgeous, gently worn gown or dress going to waste, but isn’t that the fate of most of the perfectly good (and perhaps not so good) bridesmaid dresses you’ve ever donned? Thanks to charities like Donate My Dress these frocks can find new homes in the arms of underprivileged teenage girls about to celebrate a beloved rite of passage: Prom. With that thought in mind we went in search of charities that accept donated bridesmaid dresses and gives them to girls in need so that they can have a prom night to remember! Take a look at this article from the Huffington Post, which talks about Operation PROM, an organization that turns your Kelly green taffeta nightmare into the dress of a young girl’s dreams. If you just can’t bring yourself to give away a great memory without getting something else in return, you’re in luck!

Happy Monday! Today we’re REvisiting a gorgeous couple we featured last week: Jessica and Donald. Remember the breathtaking photos we shared from their nuptials at Newport’s Belle Mer? If not, check them out here. In a nutshell theirs was one of the most romantic celebrations we’ve ever seen played out at one of Newport’s most enchanting venues captured in picture perfect detail by Snap! Photography. Speaking of settings, we just had to share some photos from the newlywed’s rehearsal dinner at the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Museum in Newport. Again, the bride and groom’s attention to detail is superb and their taste, spot on. We just LOVE the vintage suit case display for their guest’s place cards and the couple’s use of olde-timey wedding straws! And how creative are those table centerpieces made of dried beach wood and other natural elements? We are smitten! Thank you so much to

Etiquette mavens can finally breath a sigh of relief because we are about to set the record straight on an incredibly vexing issue to those of us who are a tad obsessed with social protocol. But first a quick quiz: Should you say “best wishes” or “congratulations” to a newly-engaged or just married bride? Those of you who answered “best wishes,” you’re RIGHT! Always, always extend your best wishes to a bride, but feel free to say congratulations to the groom. We think Miss Etiquette sums it all up in her blog post devoted to this topic: “Saying congratulations to a bride implies that she has won something – her groom. The groom is to be congratulated for getting the lady to accept his marriage proposal. To avoid controversy, many people just extend their best wishes to the bride and the groom!” Have a fabulous day everyone and best wishes to

Jessica and Donald were married at the glamorous and much sought-after Belle Mer on Newport’s Goat Island in a beautiful ceremony dripping with romance and replete with both rustic and modern touches. The couple wanted an ocean backdrop on their special day and though neither Jessica nor Donald are from Newport, they do hold a special place in their hearts for this lovely and charming city by the sea. In the bride’s own words: “We wanted to get married on the water and have been to Newport several times over the years while dating for long weekends. We love Newport, the people, the food and the town. It is such a fun place to spend time. When we started thinking about where to get married, we realized that Newport would be the perfect choice.” Our friends at Snap! Photography were there to capture the gorgeous details throughout the day! As always, we here
