Today’s very special post features some insider info from one of our favorite transportation companies, Rockstar Limo. They hooked us up with a fabulous interview full of super helpful wedding day transportation tips! So without further ado, here it is. NWG: Do you think the bride and groom need to provide transportation for all their guests if they are getting married in Newport, RI? RL: I wouldn’t call it a necessity, but certainly a wise choice with out of town guests, especially there is an open bar at the event. Newport is one of those locations where any map will tell you that you are 2 miles from your destination, but it is such a popular hotspot that the 2 miles can easily take 20 minutes to travel. Reliable transportation guarantees that the guests arrive on time, ensures that they have a safe ride home, and is a wonderful benefit for those

We just love a good fall wedding in New England! Lauren and Jeff’s marriage celebration on a gorgeous Saturday in October at Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Stonington, Ct. was no exception. According to the bride a lot of the credit for this swoon-worthy event goes to Ann Gardner and Margaret Murphy with Fancy Pants Event Planning. “We did not originally intend to hire a planner, but hiring Fancy Pants was the best decision we made for our wedding,” said Lauren. “Ann and Margaret took the time to get to know us as a couple and knew what was important to us on our wedding day. They had incredible ideas, great relationships with vendors and really knew the space where we were holding our event. They handled every detail leading up to our wedding day seamlessly. On the day of our wedding, they were truly amazing. Any time I needed anything, I turned around

A lot of confusion and stress can be built up around bridal shower planning. Who throws them? Who’s invited? Should there be a theme? When should the invitations go out? We have the answers to all of these questions and more as we untangle and reveal the do’s and don’ts of bridal shower planning and execution. Do: Even though our friends at marthastewartweddings.com argue otherwise, we here at NWGlam think it’s perfectly fine for a mother or sister or other immediate family member to host the bridal shower. It is 2012 after all. Don’t: That said, it is best to not put the registry information on the invitation since it would appear the host(s) are asking for gifts. How will the guests know what to bring? Good question. Brides and grooms these days usually have wedding web sites through WeddingChannel.com or TheKnot.com to name a few. Guests can just look there or simply ask the

Long story short: it’s a do. (Ready for the long story?) We feel there should always be attire printed somewhere in the invitation suite lest you give your guests zero guidance on what they should wear and end up having to field a million phone calls and emails asking such. Honestly, no one wants to show up too casual or too formal so if you don’t care about doing yourself a favor by specifying the proper attire then please do your guests a favor. As far as where the attire directive should be placed… although old school proper etiquette says it should not be on the actual wedding “ceremony” invitation, in 2012 we feel that when a wedding ceremony & reception are taking place at the same location it is OK to announce the marriage and on that invitation to put “dinner & dancing to follow” OR “reception to follow”

Dear Donna, I purchased a wedding dress from a salon and when the dress came in it is not what I remembered it to look like when I tried the sample on months ago. I had my first fitting and was in tears!! What do I do and we are just a couple of months from our wedding date? Dress Disaster Dear Disaster, Your first step should be to look at the sample again and make sure it is the right dress. If the dress is the one you ordered, but you thought it would look different based on the sample you tried on, it might just be a matter of getting a proper fitting. Have a discussion with the seamstress and let her know what about the dress you would like to change. Most of the time they can work miracles and truly fit it for you in
