Hello Friends! Today we are sharing a very summery engagement session done for the lovely Michaela and Chris. This couple met and now live in Philadelphia, but Michaela grew up in our Rhode Island. She and Chris love this little state very much which is why they chose to have their engagement pictures shot in Newport! I think you will find it was a great choice. The pictures, done by the amazing Michelle Carpenter, are simply beautiful. Michaela and Chris will be returning to Newport on October 13 to tie the knot, and we wish them all the best. ♥Emily &nbsp

Inspired by…The Bouquet Toss!

Tradition calls for a bride to throw her bouquet to all the single ladies in the room. Of course, whoever catches the bouquet is fated to be the next engaged woman. The game is fun and eases the single ladies’ jealousy of the bride just a little. Perhaps, however, your bouquet will find another use. I have heard of this hidden tradition and would like to uncover it. Every married couple is called to the dance floor. There they dance as year markings are called out- 5, 10, 15… The lovers leave when the number called exceeds the number of their years together, until only one couple remains. The picture of sweet everlasting love, usually two people married for over fifty long years, remains dancing. The bride and groom then preciously honor this couple by handing over the bouquet. A lovely idea – for those that have made love last

The Look…Undertones!

When choosing a dress, it is very important to know whether you have a warm or cool undertone. Those with cool complexions have blue undertones, and those with warm complexions have yellow undertones. As a help to those of you who aren’t so sure, I thought I would share a few tips to figure it out. 1. What color are the veins on the inside of your forearm? If the veins are blue, then you are cool. If they are more green, then you are warm. 2. Which jewelry suits you better? Silver ladies most likely have cool undertones. Golden girls are more likely to have warmer skin tones. 3. Then of course, there are some generalizations. Those of you who burn easily- probably cool. If you’re pink instead of peach- probably cool. Those of you with darker skin that has a red look to it- probably cool. Those of you

Inspired By…Love in Pictures

More often than not, a wedding becomes excessively about the event itself- the flowers and colors and song choices- instead of about the love which the day is meant to bind. In the midst of all the planning, its easy to forget the purpose. When the day finally arrives, we want the consummation of all our careful planning, from the bow ties to the center pieces, to be captured by camera. This is all perfectly understandable and well, but more importantly, find a photographer that is going to capture just what your love looks like. Years into your marriage, the color of the bridesmaid’s dresses or the number of tiers on the cake are not going to matter. What will matter is maybe just that one picture of the two of you, young and fresh in love. It might even bring the feeling back to you one day when the

Happy Valentine’s Day!

When one thinks of Valentine’s Day, they tend to think of chocolate and red roses, or those tiny conversation hearts. Many forget what the day is supposed to be all about…..Love. So, today on the most romantic day of the year, I ask you to second guess the candy and really tell your loved one what they mean to you. Whether it’s a hand written note, or their favorite home cooked dinner, or those three simple words ‘I Love You’ take the time and show them. And if all else fails, chocolate is the fastest way to a girls heart….after a diamond ring of course (;    XOXO-Samantha   &nbsp

Guest Post: Music Inspired Wedding Invitations

Signed, sealed, delivered – I’m yours. Ted Cullinane of Ruck-Spin Productions gives us a rundown today on how to mix in some music with your wedding invitations. Here’s what he has to say: In previous posts, the Newport Wedding Glam team has discussed the importance of properly wording invitations, adding a splash of watercolor, and the benefits of paperless invites. As a DJ and music lover, I’d like to shed some light on adding a musical flavor to your invitations. Music’s role in your wedding doesn’t have to start and end with your reception. If you and your partner are music enthusiasts, consider invitations as another way to express one of your shared passions. Here’s a few highlights from around the web: Studio On Fire printed this Adam Ramerth designed “Mixtape System” invitation for a couple back in 2009. If you have ever made a special mixtape for your partner,

The Look…Top Bun

At the royal ball as well as her wedding, Cinderella worked the top bun. Of all the princesses, Cinderella is the classic, most embodying the princess look [if you’ve noticed, she always steals the center spot in all the princess photo shoots], which is why she chose this elegant and timeless hairstyle. Right now the top knot is popular, so multiple new variations have been created, all precious. It especially compliments a dress with a detailed or open back. Check out some examples below if you think the top bun might fit your look like it did Miss Cinderella’s. ♥Emily &nbsp
