Inspired by…The Best Day.
I am sorry friends. Today I do not have any ideas or to-do’s for you. I hope you don’t mind, but instead I would like to offer up an inspiration.
Society says that your wedding day will be one of the best days of your life, and in fact, yes, they are right. However, I think this only intensifies the pressure. Because you have grown up with the best day statement in the back of your mind, you work like crazy to make sure of it. The truth is, if you allow it, your wedding day will be the best day…regardless.
Imagine for a moment you did not do a thing. Imagine from the moment you were engaged you did not make one call, choose one color, or listen to a single song. Let’s pretend you forgot all about it. On the morning of your wedding, you throw on your favorite pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. You walk yourself into the back yard without a flower in your hair, and the guests can’t find a single chair. Then, with all the grace you can muster, you meet your love who smiles, and you both step up onto an old wooden box before the crowd. Somewhere in the distance the preacher clumsily wanders through the necessary words, but right there in front of you is happiness. Ah, you kiss, and magically you are each others forever. Even if this was your day, would it not still be the best?
No flower, shoe, or weather report can make your day the best. This is only the best day of your life because it is the beginning of a new one.
